One Piece Episode 643 is based on chapters 733 and 734 of the manga, which were released in 2014. The anime adaptation aired in 2015 and was directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto and produced by Toei Animation. The episode features the voice talents of Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy, Kappei Yamaguchi as Usopp, Hiroaki Hirata as Sanji, Ikue Otani as Chopper, and many more.
The episode is part of the Dressrosa Arc, which is the 27th arc in the series and the second in the Pirate Alliance Saga. The arc also introduces many new characters, such as the Tontatta dwarves, the Corrida Colosseum fighters, and the Grand Fleet captains.
One Piece Episode 643 also marks the debut of Usopp’s new technique, the Pop Green: Impact Wolf. This is a plant-based projectile that explodes on impact and releases a shockwave that knocks back the target. Usopp uses this technique to try to defeat Sugar, but he fails to hit her directly.
Meanwhile, Luffy and his allies continue their battle against Doflamingo’s executives in the royal palace. Luffy faces off against Bellamy, his former enemy who has been brainwashed by Doflamingo. The episode ends with a cliffhanger, as Usopp is about to be turned into a toy by Sugar. However, he suddenly remembers his promise to his friends and regains his courage. He then fires another Pop Green at Sugar, hoping to stop her once and for all.
